Fang Shihong (1913 - 1986), male, a native of Beijing. Mr. Fang was born in a family of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Fang Xingqiao, his grandfather, was the imperial physician of the Imperial Hospital in the Qing Dynasty. Fang Youqiao, his father, was also a famous doctor in Beijing. He inherited his ancestral medical skills and specialized in TCM and surgery. In the 1940s, he worked at Liubukou and was good at treating mastosis with external method, Beijing, and soon became one of the important members of the "Fang Family", which is one of the three families specializing in surgery in Beijing.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was hired by Beijing Hospital of TCM as the Chief Physician of Internal Medicine in 1958. In 1981, he was identified as the priority academic experience inheritance object among the famous old doctors of TCM in Beijing.
Mr. Fang had excellent medical skills and rich clinical experiences. He had a unique method and experiences in the treatment of mastosis, erysipelas, furuncle, bone tuberculosis, back carbuncle and other diseases. On the basis of inheriting the family secret recipe, he summed up and developed "Breast Disease Pellet", "Internal Dissipation", "Ulcer Cream" and other characteristic preparations, being received and welcomed by patients, and making outstanding contributions to the construction of hospital surgical characteristics. Mr. Fang was not conservative, he summed up his many years of medical experiences accumulated and wrote a number of papers published in various professional journals, being focused and praised by his peers. He participated in the preparation of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Modern Medicine Surgery Manual and other professional works, leaving a valuable wealth for the development of surgery in TCM.
